Apex Athletics Foundation is a non-profit

organization based in Glendale, California.

Apex offers basketball training programs to instill discipline, build physical strength, and foster teamwork in kids.

In addition to training, the foundation hosts events and tournaments.

The organization aims to provide resources for parents and players, promote upcoming events.

Meet the Team

Our team at Apex Athletics Foundation is comprised of dedicated coaches and staff who are passionate about nurturing the potential of young athletes. Each member brings a unique set of skills and experiences to create a well-rounded training environment.

Coach Jack Van Patten

Jack Van Patten was a teacher and a basketball coach in the Glendale Unified School district from 1988 to 2024. From 1998 to 2024, he was the Athletic Director at Hoover High School. He is one of the only Pacific League coaches to be awarded boys' and girls' basketball Coach of the Year and lead them to CIF playoff berths.

A dedicated educator, Coach Van Patten firmly believes that participating in athletics builds character, team working skills, and engenders community.

Coach Ernie Ford

Coach Ford brings over 30 years of experience of training top high school, college and professional athletes. He regularly works with professional teams around the world. Coach Ford began his coaching career in the local park districts of Chicago. His training philosophy embodies his city’s signature toughness and emphasis on development through fundamental skill work. He believes there are no magic drills, just superior work ethic will help any player attain their maximum potential. Coach Ford is a NASM certified personal trainer.

Coach Chloris Turner

Head Hoover Girls' Basketball Coach, Coach Turner teaches at Toll Junior High School. Coach Turner brings high energy and an attention to detail to instructing youth basketball.

Coach Donovan Womack

Coach Womack is the head varsity boys coach at North Hollywood HS. He has been a head coach at the varsity level for 7 years. He, also, brings skill development experience, having spent time as an intern for the LA Sparks and the Wasserman Agency helping develop players for the NBA Draft.

Antoine Simon

Coach Simon serves as the JV Coach of the Girls' Basketball program and is known for making sure every player receives the instruction and attention required to fulfill their potential.
